A huge shoutout to our Cozad Middle School students and staff for a successful paper product drive! All of the items collected have been delivered to the Cozad Food Pantry, and we are so proud of everyone who contributed to making a positive impact in our community.
The 7th grade came in first place, followed by the 8th grade in second and the 6th grade in third.
As a thank you for their hard work, here’s the schedule for Friday, December 20th: 7th graders will have no school, 8th graders will be dismissed at 11:30 AM, and 6th graders will be dismissed at noon.

Ribbon Cutting Celebration--What a wonderful day as we welcomed community members and special guests to celebrate the ribbon cutting of our incredible new facilities! The event was made even more special by the presence of Teresa Ibach, District 44 State Senator; Brad Stevens, State Director for Governor Ricketts; and Elizabeth Tegtmeier, State Board of Education Member.
We are so grateful for everyone who contributed to this memorable celebration. Special thank you to our staff and students who helped with the ceremony today: Brock Malcom, our CHS Student Body President, Mr. DeVere Larington with the CHS Band, Mrs. Senja Stephens and the Elementary TrebleMakers, and Cozad Student Council--the dedication and talent on display were inspiring. We also extend our thanks to the Cozad Board of Education, Mr. Larry Paulsen of Paulsen, Inc., Mrs. Heidi Bazata, Mr. Dustin Favinger, Mr. Brian Regelin, and Wilkins Architecture & Design for their roles in bringing this vision to life.

Six Culinary I students received their ServSafe Certification this week from UNL Extension Educator Brenda Aufdenkamp. The students worked their way through the ten chapters of the ServSafe Manager book and then received extensive training at the Dawson County Extension Office on Oct. 23. Attendees then completed a 90-question test, with these six students from Cozad High School passing the comprehensive exam. Their certification is good for five years.
