MS Wrestling Parents: Important information for the upcoming MS Wrestling Tournament on Friday, November 17th. The wrestling tournament will be held at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney beginning at 4:30 pm. Admission for this tournament is $10.00 Adults and $5.00 students. No coolers can be brought into the facility. All spectators are asked to remain in the stands at all times and not down by the mats. The Buffalo County Fairgrounds is a CLEAR BAG POLICY venue. Clear bags and small clutch-sized purses are only allowed at entry.

CHS Winter athletes have Sport Picture Day on Monday, November 20th. FCCLA will also be taking pictures that day for picture buttons. Forms for the picture buttons can be found on our website under documents - schools - high school - 2023-24 or you can get a form in the HS office. The Veterans Day Program will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 10 in the CHS gym. Welcoming remarks will be given by CHS Principal Corey Fisher. Sgt. Brad Peltier, Commander, VFW Post #890 will serve as emcee for the program. The Presentation of Colors will be done by members of the Cozad Honor Guard, with the CHS Band, under the direction of DeVere Larington, playing our National Anthem. The invocation will be delivered by Pastor David Haynes from the Cozad Church of Christ. Voice of Democracy audio essays on “What are the Greatest Attributes of Our Democracy” will be given by Callie Kostrunek, Erica Weatherly, and Jorja Yocom. Special music will be provided by the CHS Choir, directed by Amanda Kidder, Amy Hoehner, and the CHS Band. Guest Speaker is Laura Peltier, who will be sharing her experiences as the wife of a veterans and now the mom of a son in the military. Recognition will be done for Veterans by Conflict, Purple Heart Recipients, POWS, and Gold Star Families. Taps will be played by DeVere Larington to close the service.
The Patriot’s Pen Essays will be read at the Veterans Day supper at 6 p.m. at the Cozad Elks Club. The winning essays will be read by Taegan Dexter, Matthew Rhoades, and Mason Johnson.
Eden Jackson, Eric Schroder, and the Cozad Dairy Queen will be donating ten percent of their profits on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11 to VFW #890 as well as veterans receiving a free medium Blizzard any time during the day.

Please join us for a special Veteran's Day Service this Friday, November 10th at 10:00 am in the High School gymnasium as we honor and celebrate our veterans. All veterans are also invited to make it a "High Five Friday" at the elementary school in the morning before school to give our students a warm welcome! Let's show our gratitude and make this day memorable!

The High School Winter Sports Parents Meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 7th at 7:00 pm in the HS Gym. This is for all winter athletes in grades 9-12. It's expected that both athlete and parents attend this meeting.

On Thursday, October 26th, CHS Seniors took a big step towards their bright futures! They had an incredible opportunity to attend Cozad's Apply2College Day and Fall Senior Seminar. This event was used to offer seniors time and assistance with applying to colleges and learning how to access local scholarship information. The Fall Seminar sessions provided information on: the FAFSA and EducationQuest's website with scholarship opportunities; credit, banking options, budgeting; expertise of local businesses in regards to completing job applications and job interviewing tips; and experiences from CHS alumni that have returned to Cozad. Huge thanks to local businesses and alumni for sharing their expertise and experiences! A special shoutout to Meridian Tap House for assisting in feeding our students a delicious lunch! This day is made possible by the College Access Grant sponsored by EducationQuest.



Cozad High School Freshmen had an amazing day at Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte on October 30th! They toured both North and South Campus, dove into self-discovery, and discussed their career aspirations. Students had time devoted to learning more about themselves and exploring future options. They participated in the Holland Personality Game and talked about career priorities.
A special thank you to Mrs. Haarberg and Mrs. Rossell for securing the College Access Grant that made this day possible.

The 8th Grade Girls' Basketball Jamboree this Saturday, November 4th, that was scheduled in Gothenburg, has been moved locations to McCook Junior High School.

Thank you to everyone who entered this year’s Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest. Congratulations to Mason Johnson as the third-place winner, Matthew Rhoades as the second-place winner, and Taegan Dexter as the first-place winner. These three Cozad Middle School students will be recognized at the Veterans Day program on Friday, Nov. 10, and be receiving $20, $25, and $30 for their efforts respectively. Taegan’s essay has been sent on to the district level competition.
