Join us in making a difference with our FCCLA STAR Project! Our "Easing the Journey" initiative focuses on creating chemo-comfort tote bags for cancer patients. Thanks to your support at the Pink Out volleyball game, we're taking it a step further! Mr. Hansen generously donated his late wife's cancer t-shirts, and we're turning them into a meaningful Cancer T-Shirt Quilt. Tickets can be purchased at the December 8th (Hershey) and December 12th (McCook) basketball games! Tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20. Tickets can also be purchased by contacting Andrea Meester. Let's come together to make a positive impact in the lives of those facing cancer.

Big shoutout to CMS 7th grader Taegan Dexter for clinching victory with his outstanding Patriot’s Pen essay! His essay stood out among entries from 16 schools in VFW District 13, earning him the top spot at the district level. Now, Taegan's essay is on its way to the state competition – a remarkable achievement! He will be honored at a District Awards ceremony in Kearney on Sunday, January 14th. If his essay secures a spot in the top three at the state level, Taegan and his family will be invited to the grand State Awards ceremony in Lincoln later in January or February. Hats off to you, Taegan! Your talent and hard work truly shine. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Congratulations to Coach Derek Hammerlun on being awarded the NSWCA Class B Coach of the Year for the 2022-23 wrestling season. It's a remarkable achievement to lead the team to a Southwest Conference championship, District Championship, and the school's first-ever state duals appearance. Finishing in the top 10 at State with 9 qualifiers and 3 medalists is a testament to Coach Hammerlun's dedication and skill in developing a successful wrestling program. Entering his 20th season as Cozad's head wrestling coach is a remarkable milestone, highlighting his enduring commitment to the sport and the community. It's evident that Coach Hammerlun's hard work extends beyond the mat, with his contributions to the Hawk Building and countless hours volunteering for the youth club. The entire wrestling community is fortunate to have such a dedicated and passionate individual like Coach Hammerlun. The recognition is well-deserved, and it's clear that he is a rock in the wrestling community. Cozad is indeed proud to have Coach Hammerlun as a Haymaker.
