Cozad Community School

Last night was the first High Gear Haymakers Semester Showcase! HAL (high ability learner) students and their families came to enjoy 4 stations with STEM challenges and a scavenger hunt with riddles and problem solving. Students were able to showcase their creative and critical thinking skills by showing their families how they process through the challenges. A big thank you to all of the families who attended!

Thank you again to our staff, students, and community members for the incredible donations during last month’s NHS Food Drive. A total of 11,387 pounds of food was delivered to the Cozad Food Pantry.

For their outstanding efforts and achievement, students who participated in the Food Drive will receive early dismissal times on Friday, December 19th. Seniors, our first-place finishers, have no school. Sophomores, who placed second, will be dismissed at 10:40. Juniors, in third place, will be dismissed at 12:52, and freshmen will be dismissed at 2:34.

Thank you for supporting this meaningful project and helping make a difference in our community.

Good luck to our CHS Wrestlers this weekend as they compete in the Colby, Kansas Invite. Wrestling begins at 1:00 PM today and continues tomorrow starting at 9:30 AM. Go Haymakers!

Good luck to our 7th grade Girls Basketball team as they take on Minden today at 4:30 PM. Please note that the game will be played in the Wellness Center Gym, not the Elementary gym as previously posted. Go Haymakers!

All middle school students who had art during first semester will have artwork featured in this Art show. Come see the talented middle school band, choir, and art students in action on Tuesday, December 16th. The art show will open at 6:15 and close 30 minutes after the concert. The concert will start at 7:00 pm

CHS Wrestlers are on the road this week, competing at the Varsity Boys Wrestling Colby Kansas Invite on Friday and Saturday. Wrestling begins Friday at 1:00 PM.

Senior & Senior Parents: FAFSA Night will be held in the High School Library tonight (Wednesday, Dec. 10th) from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Nebraska now requires all public high school students (Class of 2025 and beyond) to complete the FAFSA or file a formal opt-out form in order to graduate.

We encourage all seniors and their families to attend and get support with the FAFSA process.

Good luck to our 7th and 8th grade boys wrestling team as they compete in the Ogallala Invite today. Wrestling begins at 3:30 PM (Central Time). Go Haymakers!

Good luck to our MS Girls Basketball teams this afternoon, Monday, December 8th. The 8th grade girls will play in McCook, and the 7th grade girls will play at home in the Wellness Center. Both games begin at 4:30 PM. Go Haymakers!

Seniors and Senior Parents: Join us for FAFSA Night on Wednesday, December 10th from 6:30–8:00 PM in the high school library (open house format). FAFSA completion is a new graduation requirement, and this event gives you the opportunity to complete the FAFSA with support and guidance.

2:30 PM – Girls Varsity

Congratulations to senior wrestler Drake Hasbrouck! He kicked off his season in a big way tonight, earning his 100th career win with a pin at the Gretna East dual. What an incredible milestone to start the year—well done, Drake! #HaymakerWay

CHS Boys Wrestling begins their season tonight with their home-opening dual vs. Gretna East at 6:30 PM. Come out and support the team as they kick off the year on their home mat. They will also be hosting the Cozad Invite tomorrow, December 6th. JV will begin at 9:00 AM and Varsity at 9:30 AM.
