Ribbon Cutting Celebration--What a wonderful day as we welcomed community members and special guests to celebrate the ribbon cutting of our incredible new facilities! The event was made even more special by the presence of Teresa Ibach, District 44 State Senator; Brad Stevens, State Director for Governor Ricketts; and Elizabeth Tegtmeier, State Board of Education Member. We are so grateful for everyone who contributed to this memorable celebration. Special thank you to our staff and students who helped with the ceremony today: Brock Malcom, our CHS Student Body President, Mr. DeVere Larington with the CHS Band, Mrs. Senja Stephens and the Elementary TrebleMakers, and Cozad Student Council--the dedication and talent on display were inspiring. We also extend our thanks to the Cozad Board of Education, Mr. Larry Paulsen of Paulsen, Inc., Mrs. Heidi Bazata, Mr. Dustin Favinger, Mr. Brian Regelin, and Wilkins Architecture & Design for their roles in bringing this vision to life. To our many guests and community members who joined us for the ceremony and tours, your support means the world to us. Good Luck, CHS Boys' Wrestling Teams! Today, our CHS Boys' Wrestling JV and Varsity teams take to the mats as they host the Cozad Invite! With 16 teams competing, it’s sure to be an action-packed day of incredible wrestling. The competition begins at 9:00 AM at Cozad High School, with matches taking place in both the West Gym and the Barn. Let’s cheer loud and show our Haymaker pride!

Exciting Day for Lady Haymaker Wrestling! Today is a historic moment as our Lady Haymaker Wrestling Team kicks off their first-ever season by hosting and competing in the Cozad Girls Wrestling Invite. The action begins at 2:00 PM in the West Gym at Cozad High School. Let’s fill the gym with cheers and support for these hardworking athletes as they take to the mats for the first time. Break a Leg, Cozad One-Act! 🎭 Best of luck to our talented One-Act team as they compete at the B-6 District Contest in Sidney today! Their performance is scheduled for 11:30 AM CST. We’re so proud of your hard work and dedication—take the stage and shine!

Six Culinary I students received their ServSafe Certification this week from UNL Extension Educator Brenda Aufdenkamp. The students worked their way through the ten chapters of the ServSafe Manager book and then received extensive training at the Dawson County Extension Office on Oct. 23. Attendees then completed a 90-question test, with these six students from Cozad High School passing the comprehensive exam. Their certification is good for five years. Congratulations to Luke Pinkelman who was recognized this evening at the Cozad vs. Kearney Catholic Hall of Fame game as a 2023 Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame inductee! Luke is a 2007 Cozad High School graduate. A legend in Nebraska sports, Luke excelled in football and track, earning 5 Class B and 3 all-class gold medals in track. He set a state-meet shot put record of 63’7½” that stood for 16 years! On the football field, he started all four years and was named All-State as a sophomore—a rare and incredible honor. Luke continued his success at Iowa State and the University of Nebraska, earning 3 All-American honors and multiple Big 12 and Big 10 championships. This evening, Luke was presented with his Hall of Fame Inductee plaque by CHS Activities Director, Jeremy Yilk, and in a gracious act, he gifted it to Cozad High School to display proudly. Join us in celebrating this incredible athlete and his lasting impact on Cozad and Nebraska sports history!
