To the Parent/Guardian of a Fifth Grade Student: The fifth grade students have the opportunity to perform as a large group ensemble at the May 4, 2019 Middle School Contest taking place at the Middle School here in Cozad. Previously, I had sent home a letter back in March stating that the Fifth Grade students will potentially performing for this event. The students have prepared very hard for this upcoming experience and would like to showcase their talents in a contest setting. The students will perform at 1:10 PM in the Auditorium. I would like the students to be in the choir room at 12:30 to warm-up for the actual performance. The Fifth Grade students will perform two numbers of contrasting styles to represent Cozad Community Schools. The contest is treated like a mini District Music Contest with the philosophy that students prepare age appropriate music acceptable for district music style adjudication. The judges are very friendly and understand the developmental age of our musicians. The goal is to educate the fifth grade students and help them progress their skills in a warm and friendly environment. Due to this event being in a contest manner, please have your child wear something nice for this occasion. I prefer no jeans or tennis shoes. The event takes place on a Saturday and is graded and I understand that other things are happening during this busy time of year. Please contact immediately if your child is not able to make it to this event. Thank you all so much for your support in this endeavor and as always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have in regards to this event. Coach Niles would like to invite 1st-12th graders to our 2019 Cozad Volleyball Summer Skills Camp. This camp will focus on teaching athletes the basic skills of volleyball, working as a team, learning offense and defense, to be competitive and have fun! We will also have special guest, Diane Rouzee! Diane Rouzee was the head volleyball coach at Northwest High School for 30+ years. She finished with a career record of 768-183 with three state championships (1994, 2003, 2012) and six state runner-up finishes. The Vikings qualified for the state tournament 24 times, including the past 17 years, during her tenure. She never had a losing season at Northwest.
