The Cozad AfterZone program is an important aspect of the elementary school experience and a need in the community. Unfortunately, the program runs in a financial deficit. When federal funding of the program was recently threatened, the district conducted an in-depth study of AfterZone. After much consideration, the Cozad School Board voted at their July Board meeting to continue the AfterZone program for 2025-26 and incorporate a basic payment program for all students that choose to participate.
Moving forward, the district plans to offer AfterZone to grades K - 5 students each day after school until 6:00 pm, just as it has done for many years. Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, parents will be charged $5 per day for their child’s attendance if they qualify for Free/Reduced lunch and $7 per day if they receive regular lunch.
Mrs. Morse will continue to lead the same high-quality program parents and students have come to expect over the years and further communications will be coming from Mrs. Morse and the elementary school as we inch closer to the 2025-26 school year.
