Just a reminder that Boys Basketball Summer Camp forms are due to Cozad Elementary by May 11th. Little Haymakers, Fundamentals 101, and Gym Rats camp forms can be found on the school website (http://www.cozadschools.net/summer-camps-2018) or picked up in the Cozad Elementary office. Congratulations to these students who earned Superior Ratings at District Music Contest for Solos and Small Ensembles. Chamber Singers earned student medals and a plaque for earning a Unanimous Superior. Bel Canto also earned a Superior Rating for their performance.
Cozad Community Schools is pleased to announce Mr. Zachary Stauffer as the new Head Girls Basketball Coach. Coach Stauffer comes to us from Archbishop Fremont Bergan Catholic where he has served as an assistant boys and girls basketball coach. Coach Stauffer has also served as a head coach/director of operations for Next Level Athletics. We look forward to having Coach Stauffer lead the Lady Haymakers next winter!
Cozad Community Schools is pleased to announce Mr. Jacob Brummer as the new Head Boys & Girls Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track & Field Coach. Coach Brummer brings a great background in running and track and field to Haymaker athletics spanning from his time as a decathlete at Chadron State College to his current position at Hemmingford High School. We look forward to having Coach Brummer and his family in the Cozad community!

CMS 6th Grade Students were able to visit and tour the Henry Doorly Zoo on Wednesday, April 25th. They watched sharks being fed, had time to meet and visit with a zookeeper, and spent the afternoon touring many of the exhibits at the zoo. CMS received a grant from the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo to help make this field trip possible. CMS 8th grade students in Mrs. Lucas' Life Skills clas made this quilt this quarter. This group is choosing to support Home Health through the United Way. This agency sends qualified nurses to the homes of people who need some medical help such as giving injections, helping with medications, etc. You may purchase a ticket (or tickets) through any 8th grader in the picture or you may contact Marcy Lucas if no one comes to see you!
Thank you for helping the 8th graders learn about community service and helping others through this project! The winning ticket will be drawn during Middle School Honors on May 17.
CMS Students in Mrs. Lucas' 8th grade Life Skills class made this quilt. They are selling tickets for $1.00 each for a chance to take the quilt home. All the money they raise will be given to the Cozad United Way. This group of students have chosen to support L2 For Kids. Representatives from the United Way take needy kids shopping for a new school outfit shortly before school starts in the fall. Students have practiced some sewing skills through this project, but , more importantly, they are learning about community service and helping others through this project.
Tickets will be on sale from April 25 to May 9 from any of the 8th graders in the picture. If you are not contacted and would like to buy a ticket (or tickets), please contact Marcy Lucas. Thank you for helping the kids support the United Way!
Congratulations to the 2018 Spring Inductees in Cozad's National Honor Society. The Spring Induction was held on Monday, April 23rd at 7:00 pm. Proud of these students! UPDATE: The Middle School Track Quad at North Platte today (4.24.18) has been CANCELLED due to weather. Middle School track athletes will report to practice after school today.

The Haymaker Golf team competed well and shot a season best 329 to place 🥉 at the Gothenburg Invitational yesterday!! Leading the way was @DillonGeiser12 with a 79 and Adam Cole with a 81!! Great job getting better each week men!!! 👊🏼👍🏻
Great performances yesterday by the Haymaker Track teams @ the Dave Gee Invitational!!! Individual champions were Megan Burkholder in the PV (11’0”:BROKE HER SCHOOL RECORD 👍🏻🔥)& Evan McCrickard in the 200 (23.31 🏃🏻♂️)!Overall the girls team placed 5th & boys placed 9th.
