Press Release from Wilson Public Library: Youth Entrepreneurs at Community Expo During Music Mondays Eighteen of Cozad’s youth recently attended an Entrepreneur Camp at the Wilson Public Library in Cozad due to a Youth for Excellence Grant. Attendees learned many facets of what it means to be an entrepreneur with hands-on activities using the UNL Extension Entrepreneurial curriculum. Students were able to pitch their ideas to a panel of community and business leaders during a “Mini Shark Tank” on Thursday, May 30, at the library. Most will launch their own business during a Community Expo held in conjunction with Music Mondays in downtown Cozad beginning June 3, setting up at 5pm and closing at 7pm. Stop by to see what they learned, buy some of their amazing products or sign up for their offered community services. To the Parent/Guardian of a Fifth Grade Student:
The fifth grade students have the opportunity to perform as a large group ensemble at the May 4, 2019 Middle School Contest taking place at the Middle School here in Cozad. Previously, I had sent home a letter back in March stating that the Fifth Grade students will potentially performing for this event. The students have prepared very hard for this upcoming experience and would like to showcase their talents in a contest setting. The students will perform at 1:10 PM in the Auditorium. I would like the students to be in the choir room at 12:30 to warm-up for the actual performance. The Fifth Grade students will perform two numbers of contrasting styles to represent Cozad Community Schools. The contest is treated like a mini District Music Contest with the philosophy that students prepare age appropriate music acceptable for district music style adjudication. The judges are very friendly and understand the developmental age of our musicians. The goal is to educate the fifth grade students and help them progress their skills in a warm and friendly environment.
Due to this event being in a contest manner, please have your child wear something nice for this occasion. I prefer no jeans or tennis shoes. The event takes place on a Saturday and is graded and I understand that other things are happening during this busy time of year. Please contact immediately if your child is not able to make it to this event. Thank you all so much for your support in this endeavor and as always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have in regards to this event.

Message from the Mayor
Thank you to everyone for your patience this morning. Also a big thanks go out to our local police department and a couple of volunteer parents. Here are a couple thoughts for you:
1. No child will be considered tardy these first few days. If you are in line with your kids, keep them in the car until you are near the school.
2. This will go smoother if your kids are ready to get out of your car when you approach the drop off zone.
3. Please consider letting your kids exit the car when you stop anywhere in the two drop off zones. You do not need to be right in front of the door. The goal is for four cars to let their kids out at a time.
4. If your child is older please consider dropping them on the east side.
5. If you drop off on the east side please consider turning left and leaving through the alley. This step will keep the empty cars from having to jam up the drop off zone.
6. I know the snow and ice is a problem. I have asked the street department to salt the street today and tomorrow.
7. If you park and walk your kids in please park in an orderly fashion in the parking lot. Make sure that others can enter and leave the lot.
Thank you all again. I have received word from several parents and if you have a suggestion please call or message me at MayorMarcusK@gmail or 308-529-0430.
